Josephine B. Schmitt (PhD, University of Hohenheim) is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Psychology, Media and Communication Psychology, University of Cologne, Germany. Currently, she is working in the international, interdisciplinary EU-funded project „CONTRA – Countering Propaganda through Narration towards anti-radical awareness“ (www.project-contra.org). The project employs the latest findings from media psychology, communication, educational, and results from radicalization research to develop learning resources that educators can use in their regular teaching activities in order to foster critical media literacy to prevent radicalization.
Moreover, she is interested in online information behavior, knowledge acquisition and media- and information-related self-efficacy as well as the content, distribution and outreach of extremist propaganda and counter messages.
